Rolfing for Animals

Rolfing for horses and dogs

Horses benefit enormously from my Rolfing practice. My aim is to help the animals attain pain free movement. Whether constrictions in mobility result from structural defect, injury or disease, my rolfing practice enables the animal to discover the optimal alignment of their spine by releasing restrictions in their connective tissue. Horses regain their flexibility and natural patterns of movement free of the inhibiting effects of pain.

• My work with horses starts by inviting the animal to participate in the process. Together we work to re-discover the joy of movement.

• By observing the position of the legs and disharmony in movement patterns, I am able to diagnose and treat the root cause of pain. This is important after injury and at times where the horse can not respond joyfully to invitations to move.

• Quite often obstacles in training are due to restrictions of the connective tissue which can cause painful movement. As the animal is released from pain they are able to win back their natural gait and progress in training.

• After rolfing sessions, horses are balanced and quickly find the way back to their natural joy.
The series of treatments is shorter with quadrupeds than with humans. Three to five sessions are usually indicated for four-legged animals to permanently promote endurance, performance and confidence in the animal. However, measurable results are obtained from a single session.
